From my understanding it is a form unique to Broly because of his genetics. Basically a genetically mutated transformation. You could be right, it could be a mastered ussj form but I don't think that's the case. Vegeta, Goku and Trunks merely powered up their ssj forms to reach that state where as Broly actually transforms into his. Given that his character was introduced during the time of the series that was all about pushing past the ssj limits and the introduction of ssj2 soon followed, perhaps his form is just what happens when Broly goes ssj2, but a genetically unique and mutated version. |

I think the "Legendary" Super Saiyan state is just Broli's own special extreme version of the 'Grade' forms, and for the most part it's a natural result of how he gets his power. Think about what the heroes did to go "beyond" Super Saiyan in the Cell arc and beyond. They were regular Super Saiyans. They meditated in order to tap into power beyond that form. When they got hold of it and tried to use it, the result were the Grade states. At Grade 2, there was a good balance of power and speed without TOO much stress or energy drain. But when they took it too far, via Grade 3, the power it granted was outweighed by the downsides, making it useless. They eventually realized that in order to ascend beyond Super Saiyan without drawbacks, they had to make the most of regular Super Saiyan first; like making sure a house's foundation is solid before building on top of it. By training to master Super Saiyan and conditioning their bodies properly, they attained Super Saiyan 2, finally going "beyond" Super Saiyan correctly and efficiently. Now picture what would instead happen with Broli. He gains power over time without even doing anything. He's already got a power level of 10,000 when he's born, is a Super Saiyan by his teenage years, and just keeps getting stronger and stronger as the years go by. His maximum keeps increasing, but his body can only keep up for so long and can only hold so much power. Eventually Broli has too much power for his Super Saiyan form to contain. He can't really train to master Super Saiyan and use that power better like Goku and Co did, because he's nuttier than a fruitcake and lacks the mental discipline needed for that sort of thing. So the "Grade" states begin to naturally develop for him. But eventually his power starts pushing the limits of those forms, too. So any time he's cut loose and his full power is allowed to burst out, the result is a freakish, ultra-bulky, blank-eyed, over-powered extreme version of Super Saiyan Grade 3. Also known as the "Legendary Super Saiyan" form. As for why he's not slow like a Grade 3... well, he seems to gain height along with all those muscles. Somehow. If Broli were NOT crazy, and was capable of the same training as the heroes, then he wouldn't even have a "special" form for himself. He'd just be an extraordinarily powerful Super Saiyan 2, and maybe even capable of doing more with Super Saiyan 3 than Goku or Gotenks can. Edited by Kaboom, Jun 5 2015, 04:11 AM.

Probably just a stage beyond Grade 3 in which Broly alone is capable of mastering and using due to some genetic mutation of some sort. |

I think the key to understanding just how Legendary Super Saiyan can be classified is rooted in the transformation process, which is noticably unlike any other Super Saiyan transformation. Broly not only bulks up, HE GROWS. His skin rips apart as if he is shedding his body. This is an extraordinarily unique Super Saiyan transformation unlike any other. This puts it outside the realm of possibility of it belonging to the grade line of Super Saiyan, where a simple bulking of the muscles is undergone. Unlike Mastered Super Saiyan, Broly's ki continuously rises. Mastered Super Saiyan is a state that is achieved by becoming used to the stress of Super Saiyan, and thereby reducing the drainage effect. Broly does not train for this. Now some would argue that Broly's power continuously rises, and that may be the case during his lifetime bit by bit. However, I see Legendary Super Saiyan as the exact power that was trying to surface all those years he was being subdued. Even as a Legendary Super Saiyan, he does not grow stronger as a result of his ki rising because his body cannot take the ki increase - he has to expel it. Whether this is part of his nature altogether (which would go against my notion of LSSjin being merely the bottle uncorked) or simply a perk of the LSSjin state is not known for sure in my opinion. However, the fact that his body cannot take the stress of overflowing ki would seem to support the former. Whereas before he would literally grow stronger, as seen when fighting Goku, in his Legendary Super Saiyan form he cannot handle the increase. So, in conclusion there are a few distinct differences between "Legendary Super Saiyan" and Grade and Mastered Super Saiyan states: the transformation process [probably the greatest piece of evidence], actual body growth [as opposed to simple muscle bulk], and continuously overflowing ki [a greater advantage than Mastered Super Saiyan]. If I were to classify said form, I would label it as anomalistic. Whether it is "Legendary" or not I will leave up to you. Edited by Forlorn_Hope109, Jun 7 2015, 04:08 AM.

"LSSJ" form is unique to just Broly and was introduced in the movie verse of Toei, if you can call it something then it's a different variation of SSJ2, or if you like Broly's unique SSJ2 form. He was born with that power so no one can aquire it. |

Hm. This is interesting. Pretty much Broli's body continued to work on its own, since he was an individual strong enough to withstand, or perhaps crazy enough. Not much I can say, but I like your thoughts on the matter. |
